Tony Perez has been a resident of the City of Paterson for over 60 years. He attended John F. Kennedy High School, Ramapo College and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University Center for Government Services. Tony served as Recreation Director of the 5th Ward in 1976 under Mayor Pat Kramer.

He was an Administrator at El Dorado Furniture Co. for over 22 years. Tony was appointed Commissioner of the Paterson Parking Authority by Mayor Bill Pascrell in 1993 and was elected Chairman through 1996. He was appointed Director of the Department of Human Resources by Mayor Marty Barnes and served as Director from 1996 thru 1998. He became Executive Director of the Paterson Parking Authority in 1998.

During the past 15 years the Paterson Parking Authority has partnered in the development of the Center City Project, The Public Safety Parking and Commercial Facility and in facilitating the opening and return to Paterson of a Regional Motor Vehicle Office. In addition, the Paterson Parking Authority is a founding member of the Underground Railroad Foundation. Tony also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Jersey Federal Credit Union, is a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Paterson’s Mayors Unsung Heroes Breakfast, a member of the Underground Railroad Foundation, a Board Member of the New Jersey Parking Institute.
